Starting from October 1, 2020, the City of Philadelphia has implemented a Rental Property and Lead Certification Ordinance. This mandates property owners to perform lead dust testing and obtain certification for rental properties, confirming they are either safe from lead or entirely lead-free. This certification is essential when A) initiating a new lease or renewing an existing one, or B) applying for or renewing a rental license. Please note that this regulation pertains to all residential properties constructed before 1978.
